A Melody at the Heart

Written specifically for string orchestra, 4 U Tat is intended for intermediate-level ensembles. Its two-movement format makes it a considered choice for a concert program seeking a substantial work with both contrast and melodic warmth. The composition gives players an opportunity to explore differing musical characters within a single, unified piece. Taras first composed the second movement, building it around a beautiful melody written by his daughter, Tatyana. The melody appears in the second half of the composition, giving the movement a distinctive musical focus. Its origins give the piece a personal connection while keeping the emphasis on the expressive character of the music.
